Child Welfare Law

This includes the representation of children and/or parents for child protection proceedings including emergency custody, temporary custody, foster care, temporary or permanent guardianship, or the termination of parental rights.  This occurs when the Department of Children and Family Services (DCF) originates a Care and Protection (C&P) proceeding in Juvenile or Family and Probate Court by initiating an Abuse and Neglect Investigations (51As) report followed by a “72-Hour Fair Hearing” where the issue of the Termination of Parental Rights is adjudicated.
